Toyota global sales decline, while rising 70% in Russia

According to GlobalData Automotive, Toyota's global sales in April fell by 3.1% year-on-year to 849,306 units. This decline occurred against a backdrop of varying dynamics in key markets: while sales in Japan increased by 24.2%, overseas shipments dropped by 7.5%. This was reported by Ixbt.com .

The most significant decline was observed in the Chinese market, where sales fell by 25.4% to 106,500 vehicles. Demand also decreased by 33.7% in the Middle East. In the US market, figures dropped by 4.6%, with 222,378 units sold. The company attributes this decline to changes in tariff policies and the transition to the new generation Toyota RAV4 model.

Against the backdrop of a global decline, the Russian market showed the opposite dynamic. According to Autostat, 2,789 new Toyota vehicles were registered in the country in April, which is 70% more than last year. Such a sharp increase is linked to last year's low base and an increase in alternative import volumes.

Currently, the majority of Toyota vehicles entering the Russian market are supplied via China. Although the brand has officially exited this market, supply chains through private dealers and parallel import channels continue to operate actively.
