Nick Cave’s Personal Books Became a Hit in England

Nick Cave’s Personal Books Became a Hit in England
The Oxfam charity bookshop in the British town of Hove drew wide attention thanks to the personal book collection of world-renowned musician Nick Cave. He donated around 2,000 of his own books to this shop, according to Peopletalk.

This collection of books covers various fields:

- Philosophy and religion,
- Art and fiction,
- Rare editions,
- Cookbooks, including recipes for aphrodisiac dishes.

It was especially evident that these books were cherished — some were very old but well preserved. Among them were works by famous authors such as Salman Rushdie, Ian McEwan, Christopher Hitchens, and even the first edition of Johnny Cash’s autobiography.

Books personally read and used by Cave were also found. For example:

- Notes written in his own hand,
- Used bookmarks (boarding passes, maps, manuscripts),
- A book signed by Martin McDonagh,
- Phrases marked in Cave’s distinctive handwriting.

These “artifacts” stirred excitement among fans. Starting Friday, people began to flock to the bookshop. By Saturday and Sunday, lines had formed outside. Buyers began searching for books with “Cave’s traces.”

Nick Cave’s representatives declined to comment on the campaign. They only noted that he wanted the “findings” in the books to remain a mystery for their new owners. For the fans, these little mysteries turned into personal treasures.
