Soyuzmultfilm studio, in collaboration with Dikidigital, is producing a full-length anime based on Anton Chekhov's famous work "The Seagull." This was announced to Interfax by the studio's chief producer, Yulia Osetinskaya.
"Almost 130 years after the first performance on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the great Russian drama will be reborn in a new format," he said. According to Osetinskaya, the creators aimed to preserve the "content and integrity" of Chekhov's play while presenting it in a "form suitable for modern young audiences."
The film is currently in development.
