Stephen King's novel "It" began to be withdrawn from sales in Russian marketplaces and bookstores. This was reported by TASS.
According to the source, King's work cannot be purchased through certain online marketplaces and online stores selling book products.
The joint press service of Wildberries and Russ stated that the novel may be banned in the territory of the Russian Federation or violate the rules of the platform: "Wildberries strictly adheres to the legislation and does not allow the sale of products prohibited in the Russian Federation and goods that contradict the rules of the platform."
The Telegram channel "Город54" also reported that King's novel is being removed from bookstores in Novosibirsk. According to the store representative, "King's novel "It" has been completely removed from shelves and will probably not be returned now."
AST withdrew Stephen King's novel "It" from sale after a request from Roskomnadzor to the Russian Book Union and the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the publishing house's director of fiction, Sergey Rubis, told RBK Radio. According to him, the sale was temporarily suspended to verify the labels in the book.
Previously, the novel "It" was included in the list of books that should be confiscated due to the promotion of LGBT (recognized and banned in Russia as extremist). At the same time, in February 2024, Artem Sokolov, president of the Association of Internet Trading Companies (AKIT), said that this list is "not relevant" and "has nothing to do with reality."
Stephen King's novel "It", first published in 1986, is about a group of friends in the city of Derry who encounter a monster in the form of a clown Pennywise and other nightmares.
