Uzbekistan's state debt reached 43.4 billion dollars in the first half of 2025. This was reported by Bankir.
External debt amounts to 36.4 billion dollars, while internal debt is 7 billion dollars. This means the overall financial burden has increased compared to before.
Since the beginning of the year, the state debt has increased by 3.2 billion dollars, and compared to last year, a growth of 6.1 billion dollars has been observed.
The main part of the state debt was taken from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. China and Japan are among the largest creditors.
At the same time, the current debt-to-GDP ratio is 34.2 percent. Although this is still well below the permitted limit of 60 percent, the growth rates are causing concern.
