Record cryptocurrency seizure in Britain
Chinese national Jimin Qian has been found guilty by a London court of fraud and illegal possession of cryptocurrency. Her case is linked to the world’s largest cryptocurrency seizure, valued at more than £5 billion ($6.3 billion).

Between 2014 and 2017, Qian defrauded more than 128,000 people, hiding their money by converting it into bitcoin. She later fled to the UK using false documents and tried to launder the funds through real estate investments.

The police investigation lasted seven years and was carried out with international cooperation. Another Chinese woman who worked with Qian was sentenced to six years in prison last year.

British police seized a total of 61,000 bitcoins. Authorities note that cryptocurrencies are increasingly being used by criminals to conceal illicit funds.
