Uzbekistan's economy recorded record growth in 2025

According to the latest data from the National Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 1 quadrillion 849 trillion 650 billion soums in current prices in 2025. This indicator represents a net increase of 7.7 percent compared to 2024. Positive dynamics have been observed in all sectors of the country's economy, which is assessed as a practical result of the reforms.

Growth and inflation by sector

Throughout the past year, the driver sectors of the economy demonstrated high rates:

  • Construction sector: highest - 14% growth;
  • Service provision: 8.5%;
  • Industry: 6.8%;
  • Agriculture and fisheries: 4.4 percent.

The inflation rate at the end of the year was 7.3 percent. The main pressure in price changes fell on the service sector (13.9%), while the price increase for food and non-food products was relatively stable - 5.4% and 5.1%, respectively.

GDP in dollar equivalent and absolute record

According to the calculations of the well-known economist Otabek Bakirov, in 2025, Uzbekistan's GDP will exceed $147 billion for the first time. Taking into account that the average exchange rate of the US dollar during the year was 12,577.35 soums, the volume of the country's economy amounted to 147.06 billion dollars.

Economist Mirkomil Kholboyev called these figures "absolute records for the new era." He noted that GDP in dollars grew by 21.1% over the year. For comparison, in 2024 this growth was 12.9%.

Population welfare and historical comparisons

GDP per capita exceeded all forecasts and reached $3,844. When comparing this indicator with previous periods, the difference is noticeable:

  • 2021-2025: GDP grew by 81 percent, GDP per capita increased by 65.3 percent.
  • 2017-2021: GDP grew by only 12.4 percent, and GDP per capita grew by 4.3 percent.

According to experts, such high growth was positively influenced by favorable conditions in the global market (especially a 2.5-fold increase in the price of gold), a 10.5% increase in investments (591 trillion soums), and an active fiscal policy. 2025 was one of the most successful years in the economic history of Uzbekistan.

In your opinion, will such high rates of economic growth continue in the coming years?
