The incident occurred on October 3, 2024 in the Narpay district. Taking advantage of the absence of her son, the woman started a quarrel with her daughter-in-law. During the quarrel, she strangled her daughter-in-law with a phone charger cord, and then injured her with a glass jar, scissors, and a knife. The daughter-in-law died at the scene from her injuries.
After the murder, the mother-in-law tried to escape, but was arrested shortly after.
It is noted that the woman began to humiliate and insult her daughter-in-law from the very first days. The bride constantly complained to her mother about this.
The defendant had previously been deprived of parental rights and had left his children in a foster home. However, after his adult son's wedding, he returned home under the pretext of having nowhere to live.
The court found him guilty under Article 97, Part 2, Subparagraph "g" (Premeditated murder with extreme cruelty) of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 13 years in prison, taking into account some mitigating circumstances.
