President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Almaty on a working visit. The guest was met at the airport by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The purpose of the visit is to hold an informal meeting.
“The agenda includes issues of expanding practical cooperation in the fields of trade, industrial cooperation, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture and water management, as well as continuing active ties between regions and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The heads of state will also exchange views on issues of international policy and regional cooperation,” the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The presidents visited the Medeu ski cluster.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev was told about the history and architectural features of the Medeu dam, which was built at an altitude of 1,750 meters above sea level to protect against mudflows.
A "Health Staircase" consisting of 842 steps leads to the top of the Medeu dam. In 2011, a 4.5 km long ropeway was built near the dam, leading to the Shymbulak ski resort.

The Medeu sports complex was built in 1972 and is located at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level. The complex's ice rink has an area of 10,500 square meters and can accommodate up to 3,000 people at a time. More than 400,000 visitors visit it annually.
Today, the complex operates as a sports, tourism and cultural cluster. Sports competitions, mass skating, cultural events, and festivals are regularly held.

In 2011, the 7th Asian Winter Games were held here, and in 2017, the World Universiade competitions were held here.
During the meeting, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan watched the exhibition performances of young figure skaters.
