Travel abroad is becoming increasingly popular for citizens of Uzbekistan. The National Statistics Committee has published official data on tourist trips made by Uzbeks in January-March 2025. According to it, more than 1.5 million Uzbek citizens traveled abroad for tourist purposes during this three-month period.
This figure increased by 256.5 thousand people or 20.3% compared to the same period last year. Statistics show that citizens' interest in international tourism is steadily growing.
According to the Committee, the geography of travel is expanding, but the countries of Central Asia are still among the most popular destinations.
The list of countries most visited by citizens of Uzbekistan in January-March is as follows:
- Kyrgyzstan - 631,240 people;
- Tajikistan - 281,539 people;
- Kazakhstan - 240,644 people;
- Saudi Arabia – 112,274 people;
- Russia – 69,065 people;
- Turkey – 46,566 people;
- UAE (United Arab Emirates) – 44,796 people;
- Egypt – 16,689 people;
- Thailand – 13,456 people;
- Vietnam – 9,574 people;
- Other countries – 53,704 people.
It is clear that territorial proximity, language and cultural similarities are the main factors contributing to the high level of travel to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the number of trips to Saudi Arabia is also high - this is mainly due to the Umrah pilgrimage, while trips to the UAE, Turkey, Thailand and Vietnam are mainly for leisure and business purposes.
It should be noted that, taking into account global economic and tourism trends, interest in European and Asian countries is also expected to increase in the coming years.
The active interest of the country's citizens in tourism is a clear indicator of the increasing standard of living and broadening worldview in society. With the development of tourism, the increase in the number of services facilitating travel, and air travel, it is natural that such indicators will grow further.
