
On May 7, a terrible fire broke out at a gas station in the Kattakurgan district of the Samarkand region. The Committee for Industry, Radiation and Nuclear Safety officially reported this.
The incident occurred at approximately 15:06 in the yard of the gas station (GAS) in the Kushtepa neighborhood. A spark broke out in one of the two 10-cubic-meter fuel tanks while a ZIL truck was being filled with diesel fuel. The fire spread rapidly and unexpectedly.
According to preliminary information, two citizens died as a result of the accident. Another person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and is currently under medical supervision.
Relevant departments, firefighters and law enforcement agencies worked at the scene of the incident. It is noted that fuel tanks, technical equipment and some cars were damaged.
An investigation has been launched into the exact causes of the fire and the persons responsible.
Such events remind once again of the need to increase the safety culture among the population and to strengthen the technical control in the EPAs.
