In the city of Angren, Tashkent region, cases of crime among young people were again recorded. This time, the incident was related to preparations for the graduation party, which led to the initiation of a criminal case. The press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Tashkent region provided official information about this incident.
The Internal Affairs Department received a complaint about the theft of money from a Damas car in the Nurchi neighborhood on the night of April 16-17, 2024. As a result of the investigation, it turned out that four schoolchildren aged 15-17 committed this crime.
The truth is that the reasons for the crime are very sad
During the initial investigation, the young people who committed the theft stated that they received this money to cover the expenses necessary for the graduation party at school. The annual "Last Call" events held in May-June and the associated expenses are becoming a huge financial burden for some students and their parents.
Bobur Tulaganov, the press secretary of the Main Department, assessed this situation as a social signal, noting that the feeling of "not being left behind", the struggle for status and reputation, and financial pressures are unfortunately leading some young people to the path of crime.
Appeal to parents: pay attention to your children!
The Internal Affairs Directorate appealed to all parents to pay attention to their children's lifestyle, their status at the educational institution, who they are in contact with, their activities on the Internet, and their financial needs. "It is our parental duty to provide sufficient education and attention to every step of our children with tolerance," the appeal says.
What is the punishment for theft?
According to Article 169 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, theft — that is, the secret plundering of someone else's property — can lead to a number of punishments:
- In the mildest case, a fine of up to 50 times the minimum wage (18.75 million soums in 2024);
- Compulsory community service for up to 360 hours;
- Correctional labor for up to 2 years;
- Restriction of liberty for a period of 1 to 3 years;
- Imprisonment for up to 3 years.
If the crime was committed by a group in a pre-arranged manner, the punishment is even more severe. In this case, the fine may be up to 300 times the minimum wage (112.5 million soums), or imprisonment for up to 5 years.
From the Zamin.uz editorial office: This incident once again showed how excessive values and imitative desires can lead to negative consequences at graduation events. As a society, we need to form an approach based on true values, both in education and upbringing. Our children should live a life based on true humanity, not on false pretenses.
