Cruel treatment of goatherds in Bukhara: they were poisoned (video)

A very sad and morally unacceptable incident that occurred in the Bukhara region has caused great concern to the entire community. A citizen living in the Zhandor district committed a cruel act against a gray goat, which is included in the "Red Book" of Uzbekistan, that is, among the rare and endangered species.

According to official information released by the Prosecutor General's Office, a working group consisting of specialists from the Bukhara regional prosecutor's office, internal affairs bodies, and the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change was formed on this case and urgent investigation work was carried out.

What happened?

On June 1, 2024, a citizen G.G., who had accidentally entered a field shed in the desert area, was detained by a resident of the "Yosh kuch" neighborhood of the Zhandor district. With no humanity or respect for the law, he stuffed a cigarette (tobacco product) into the animal's mouth, and after the videos were shared on social media, the incident came to public attention.

Although it may seem petty, this act is not only immoral, but also against the law. According to current legislation, cruel treatment of animals, especially protected species, entails administrative and criminal liability. Such violations threaten not only biodiversity and the natural environment, but also national and global ecological security.

Investigation and control

According to official information, the relevant documents have been filed in this case and are currently being investigated by the internal affairs bodies. The entire process is under the control of the prosecutor's office. The competent authorities are consistently taking various measures to ensure the implementation of environmental legislation, prevent such cases, increase responsibility among the population and humane attitude towards animals.

Experts warn:

The bodies of small reptiles like lizards are completely unadapted to the ingestion of poison and its toxic substances. Nicotine and other chemical additives spread throughout their bodies in a very short time, often resulting in death. This threatens not only the life of an animal, but also the population of the entire species.

Such cruel treatment is absolutely wrong not only from the point of view of law, but also from the point of view of humanity and morality. It is worth recalling that previously in other regions of the country, for example, in Surkhandarya, two young men were found to have poisoned a turtle, and they were fined a large amount in accordance with the Code of Administrative Responsibility.
