Investigator from Urgench city prosecutor’s office arrested

A criminal case has been initiated against an investigator of the Urgench city prosecutor’s office. This was reported by the State Security Service’s press office.

It has been revealed that the senior investigator of the Urgench city prosecutor’s office, abusing his official position, demanded 3000 US dollars from a local resident to terminate a criminal proceeding initiated by the regional department of the department under the General Prosecutor’s Office, where his colleague had already conducted preliminary investigation, without sending the case to court with an indictment.

As a result, from May 16 to 28, 2025, the senior investigator fraudulently received 1000 US dollars, 10 million soms, a safe worth 1000 US dollars, and one office desk set worth 1,300,000 soms.

However, after learning that a criminal case under Articles 25.168 part 1 and 28.211 part 1 of the Criminal Code was initiated and sent to court with an indictment, the resident demanded the return of the previously given money and items from the investigator.

Afterwards, when the investigator was returning the 1000 US dollars, the safe worth 1000 dollars, and the desk set worth 1,300,000 soms to the resident, he was caught by employees of the State Security Service’s Khorezm regional department and staff of the regional prosecutor’s office with material evidence.
