The criminal activity of a group of 12 people operating at the “Car Spare Parts” market on Farhod Street, Uchtepa district of Tashkent, has been stopped.
During operational-investigative measures carried out by the SGB and MIA officers to improve the criminogenic situation and eliminate crime, it was revealed that members of the criminal group, without the consent and prior agreement of the client, installed various devices on the client's vehicle and performed technical maintenance. After that, for a service that costs 600 US dollars at market rates, they extorted 13,300 US dollars from the citizen through racketeering.
When the client expressed dissatisfaction and demanded his due, the offenders threatened and intimidated him.
In another similar case, members of the criminal group installed various spare parts on another citizen's car without his consent and demanded a payment three times higher than the real cost. It was established that they took the car keys from the citizen and, through coercion, extorted 15 million soums.
Additionally, the offenders took a total of 70 million soums from two more citizens for equipping their cars with additional spare parts, but did not perform the promised work.
It is noted that most members of the criminal group were born between 1988 and 2002 in Tashkent city, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions, and the majority of them had previous convictions.
Currently, all these individuals have criminal cases opened against them under articles 165 (extortion) and 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code, with pretrial detention applied as a precautionary measure.
