Illegal resale activities at Sergeli car market put to an end

Decisive and strict measures have finally been taken against the illegal mediation system that has taken root over the years at the Sergeli car and spare parts market, one of the busiest places in our capital, causing financial harm to customers. As a result of comprehensive operational measures conducted by the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, the area that had become a unique 'environment' for more than 100 resellers was identified, and appropriate administrative measures were applied to a large portion of them.
This good news was welcomed with great joy by thousands of our fellow citizens who visit the market, as well as by the entrepreneurs working honestly there. Stay tuned to our page; we will provide detailed information about the details of this major cleanup operation and the true face of the fraudsters!
'Saigak' trap: How did a 15,000 item turn into 60,000?
These individuals, colloquially known as 'saigaks' (antelopes), would 'hunt' naive customers right at the entrance of the market. Promising to find car spare parts very cheaply and quickly, they would actually sell the products at two to three times the price of their original cost.
A blow to the customer's pocket: Operational studies revealed that in some cases, small spare parts with an original value of just 10,000–15,000 soums were sold to naive customers at artificial and inflated prices of up to 50,000–60,000 soums.
According to honest sellers and official entrepreneurs operating in the market, such illegal intermediaries not only created artificial price hikes but also severely damaged the reputation of the famous Sergeli market and the trust of customers. As a result, many drivers, fed up with them, had begun moving to modern auto-detailing centers and private service providers.
Rule of law: Imprisonment, fines, and warnings
As a result of the operational raids, the following strict measures were taken against the violators:
Preventive conversation: Living in the shadow of resale, 50 individuals were subjected to explanatory and warning work;
Administrative penalty: Actively continuing their violations, 30 individuals were sentenced to administrative detention and large fines by court order.
Fortunately, some of these resellers fully realized the illegality of their actions, admitted the damages caused, and promised to work only in a legal manner as honest entrepreneurs in the future.
Major fraud exposed: Crime will not go unpunished
The Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department announced that during these raids, not only small-time resellers but also major fraud cases that had been deceiving the public were exposed.
Criminal cases and measures taken | Detailed information |
Auto-fraud | Two dangerous individuals who promised to help the public buy cars at low prices and misappropriated very large sums of their money were arrested. The court sentenced them to long-term imprisonment. |
General statistics | According to official data, during 2025 and the elapsed period of 2026, a total of about 10 criminal cases were initiated and investigated in the area of the Sergeli car market. |
Such comprehensive cleanup efforts will serve to establish justice and order in the market, and create a safe and affordable shopping environment for customers. Continue to follow the hottest, most useful, and pleasant news in our country and capital with us, dear readers! Stay tuned to our page!
