The head accountant of the healthcare association in the Olot district of Bukhara signed a contract with an LLC based in Romitan district, which produces non-woven products (excluding clothing), to purchase 400 bed sheets for the association’s needs. Together with his deputy, they colluded to artificially inflate the price: instead of 90,000 soums per sheet, they listed 190,000 soums per sheet, showing total expenses of 76 million soums.
As a result, the excess 40 million soums were demanded as a “kickback” from the LLC’s accountant.
During an operative action conducted by the State Security Service of Bukhara region in cooperation with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, they were caught in possession of evidence when receiving 32 million soums in advance.
A criminal case has been initiated against them under Article 167-25, Part 2, subparagraphs “v, g” of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.
