The State Security Service (DXX) press service reported that in Bukhara and Tashkent regions, as well as at Tashkent International Airport, three internal affairs employees were caught while taking bribes.
An employee of the Department of Internal Affairs of Bukhara region, through his official acquaintances, demanded 13,000 US dollars in return for assisting in terminating the proceedings, in relation to the suspect, of the part of a criminal case that was in the proceedings of the Investigative Division under the Directorate for Coordination of the Activities of the Internal Affairs Bodies of Bukhara city.
During an operational event conducted by the DXX Directorate for Bukhara region together with internal affairs and prosecutor’s bodies, the employee was detained with physical evidence at the time of receiving the 13,000 dollars.
A rank-and-file employee of the Angren city division of the Guard Directorate of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent region, colluding with the deputy unit commander and using his service position, through his official acquaintances demanded 1,500 US dollars in return for arranging the employment of a citizen residing in Oqqo‘rg‘on district into the Guard Directorate.
During an operational event conducted by the DXX Directorate for Tashkent region together with prosecutor’s bodies, the rank-and-file employee was detained with physical evidence at the time of receiving in advance 1,000 dollars.
During the next operational event conducted by the DXX, the senior inspector of the passport-visa unit of the MIA Department of Migration and Personalization at Tashkent International Airport, using his official authority, was detained with physical evidence at the time of receiving 400 US dollars as a bribe in exchange for expedited processing of the accompanying-person stamp in a minor’s biometric foreign-travel passport for the citizen taking the minor abroad.
During pre-investigation verification actions, it was also determined that from the beginning of 2025 to the present, the senior inspector took from each of 42 foreigners who had been in the Republic of Uzbekistan sums of 300–700 US dollars to issue them exit visas, as well as took sums of 200–400 US dollars as bribes in exchange for expedited processing of the accompanying-person stamp for 8 citizens of Uzbekistan.
At present, criminal cases have been initiated against these law enforcers, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied. Investigative actions are being carried out.
