In Navoi region, an unpleasant and surprising incident was recorded. A crime occurred involving the theft of a Paynet payment terminal. In connection with this case, a criminal proceeding has been initiated by law enforcement bodies and an investigation is currently underway, the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the information, the incident took place on the night of August 5 in the “Taraqqiyot” mahalla of Navoi city. That night the peace of the residents was disturbed when three young men arrived at the terminal in a car without license plates. They acted wearing masks and medical gloves so that no one would notice their actions.
The young men broke into the terminal and stole 5.2 million soums in cash. This incident sparked serious discussion and concern among the local population, since such crimes can directly undermine public trust and safety.
Law enforcement authorities carried out rapid measures. In a short time, the suspects were detained and arrested. A criminal case was opened against them under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are continuing.
During the case, it was revealed that the damage caused to the state amounted to 36.7 million soums. Officials stated that this damage was linked not only to the stolen cash but also to the terminal itself and its technical equipment.
At present, investigators are also studying the circumstances that led the young men to take such a step. Whether they planned the crime in advance or it was merely an impulsive decision — answers to these questions will become known in the coming days.
