In the city of Navoi, an unpleasant incident at the Tinchlik Plaza hotel drew the attention of the public. A young man — the hotel doorman — was beaten following a dispute with clients. A video of the incident spread on social media and caused major discussions.
According to reports, the altercation took place on August 21 around midnight in the hotel yard, in front of a car marked “PREZIDENT SOVG’ASI.” It was later revealed that this car belonged to Paralympic champion Elbek Sultonov. However, the athlete himself did not directly intervene in the conflict; it was his companion who was involved in the beating.
The hotel employee, M.U., born in 2004, stated that the dispute arose over a payment of 150,000 soums. At the request of a waiter, he went outside to remind the customers about the remaining bill. However, the situation escalated, and the client’s companion suddenly struck him in the face. As a result, the young man fell to the ground and suffered serious injuries.
M.U. spent nearly 10 days in the hospital. His relatives reported that medical examinations showed a concussion. The man who struck him did not apologize initially, but after the video spread and the investigation began, he went to the doorman’s parents to ask for forgiveness.
According to the Navoi police press service, the attacker was identified as S.A., born in 1994, who was under the influence of alcohol. During the investigation, it was determined that he had gone to the restaurant together with Paralympic champion Elbek Sultonov in the athlete’s car. At the time of the conflict, the athlete himself stayed in the vehicle but later tried to calm S.A.
At present, a criminal case has been opened under Article 277 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code. Investigative procedures are ongoing.
Experts note that this case clearly demonstrates how a simple misunderstanding and impulsive actions can lead to serious consequences.
