An incident that took place in Tashkent has sparked wide public discussion on social media. After a video spread online showing a man committing indecent acts towards young women on public transport, the capital’s Main Department of Internal Affairs issued an official statement.
It was revealed that the incident occurred on September 11 between 08:00 and 09:00 on bus No. 11 traveling from Chilanzar to Sergeli. A male passenger engaged in sexual harassment towards other female passengers. The man captured in the video was identified as F., born in 1971. He was soon located and taken to the Chilanzar District Internal Affairs Office. On September 17, the case was reviewed in the Chilanzar District Court.
During interrogation, the offender admitted his actions, did not attempt to justify himself, and expressed regret:
“Near the ‘Druzhba’ stop, a girl stood next to me. At that moment, I gave in to my desires, could not restrain myself, and my hand moved behind her. I disgraced myself. I apologize. I regret it. This will never happen again,” he said.
The case materials were submitted to the Chilanzar District Court. The court found the man guilty under Article 41-1 of the Administrative Liability Code (sexual harassment). According to the court’s decision, he was sentenced to 5 days of administrative detention.
Experts emphasize that such incidents on public transport damage not only the law but also the moral fabric of society. Therefore, citizens are urged to know their rights and immediately report such situations to law enforcement authorities.
