In Fergana, a senior tax inspector demanded $30,000

A senior inspector of the Department of Entrepreneurship Support and Services of the State Tax Administration of the Fergana region was detained. According to pre-investigation data, he demanded $30,000 in exchange for the promise to register 48 sotkas of agricultural land, leased for 30 years through an electronic auction in 2023, in the buyer's name.

According to the details, the senior inspector of the tax department said that he would resolve the issue with the help of "high-ranking acquaintances" of his relatives. It is noted that on this basis, the younger brother contacted the interested party and planned to receive the funds in parts or at once.

During an operational event conducted by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, a tax officer was detained while receiving the money. Material evidence was documented at the scene, and the official was detained in procedural order.

It is reported that a criminal case has been initiated against this person under Article 25, Part 4, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code. Currently, investigative actions are being carried out, the attitude of all participants to the actions and the possibility of abuse of office are being studied.

Recall that the process of allocating land plots through an electronic auction implies extreme transparency: participants, submitted documents, and steps are recorded electronically. In this case, factors such as signs of interest and the demand for money under the pretext of prompt processing of documents related to property are under investigation.

Official agencies are expressing an uncompromising position regarding the violation. According to the results of the investigation, if the guilt is proven, the punitive measures established by law will be applied. At the same time, according to the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty.
