Another remarkable event has taken place in the history of Uzbekistan’s medicine. Doctors of the Republic successfully separated conjoined twins through a complex and touching surgery. This was officially reported by the Ministry of Health.
According to the report, the operation was carried out at the Tashkent regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health in the city of Chirchik. The conjoined twins, born at 33–34 weeks of pregnancy via cesarean section, underwent urgent surgery just nine hours after birth.
The operation, performed locally with high-precision technologies, lasted for five hours. The complex procedure was conducted by an experienced team of specialists led by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Bakhtiyor Ergashev, head of the Neonatal Surgery Center under the Republican Perinatal Center.
According to the professor, such surgeries are rarely performed even in countries with advanced medicine and require long preparation and detailed analysis. Therefore, this success is considered a clear sign of the growing potential of Uzbekistan’s healthcare system.
On October 8, Minister of Health Asilbek Khudoyorov personally visited the newborns and met with the team of surgeons who performed the operation. In his remarks, he emphasized both the medical and humanitarian significance of the procedure, stating:
— Such complex operations are not often carried out even globally. The fact that it was successfully performed at the regional level proves that our national healthcare system has reached a new stage of development, — said the minister.
According to the ministry, a group of doctors and specialists involved in the operation were awarded the badge “Excellence in Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
Currently, the newborns and their mother are in good condition. They have been discharged from the hospital, and doctors will continue to monitor their recovery.
Experts note that such operations demonstrate the rapid development of the national healthcare system based on advanced technologies and the growing professionalism of medical personnel.
In recent years, Uzbekistan’s medicine has been approaching international standards through the training of highly qualified specialists, modern equipment, and scientific innovation.
Thus, the unique operation performed in Chirchik not only saved the lives of two infants but also became a symbol of hope and confidence for the entire medical community of Uzbekistan.
