A fire broke out in a school building under renovation in Tashkent

A fire broke out on the premises of School No. 208 in Tashkent. According to the city Department of Emergency Situations, the incident occurred on October 13 at 17:23 in the “Shukur Burkhanov” mahalla of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district.

Reports indicate that the roof of a building under renovation caught fire. After a call was received through the “112” emergency system, firefighters arrived at the scene within five minutes.

The fire was completely contained at 17:39 and fully extinguished by 17:42. At the time of the incident, there were no students or staff in the school, so no casualties were reported.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been caused by a violation of fire safety regulations during renovation work. A special commission is currently investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the amount of material damage.

Officials from the Emergency Department stated that the building likely contained a large amount of flammable materials during renovation, which may have accelerated the spread of the fire.

The Tashkent Emergency Department urged citizens to strictly follow fire safety rules during construction and repair work. It reminded that flammable materials should not be stored openly and electrical equipment should not be left unattended.

Thus, the fire in the temporarily renovated school, which caused public concern, fortunately resulted in no injuries and was promptly extinguished.
