In Navoi and Surkhandarya regions, civil servants who abused their official powers were exposed. They were detained by the State Security Service officers while demanding money and receiving a bribe while performing their official duties, sources reported.
It turned out that the head of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Kyzyltepa district of the Navoi region, using his position, worked on the appeal received through the single interactive public services portal my.gov.uz. He demanded $3,000 from the district's trade and consumer service center in exchange for a positive conclusion that it meets fire safety requirements.
During an operational event conducted by the State Security Service, an official was caught with material evidence while accepting the bribe in his office.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against this person under Article 210, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. In accordance with the court decision, a preventive measure of detention was applied to him.
Also, the deputy head of the Department of Compulsory Enforcement of the Jarkurgan district of Surkhandarya region and the state executor were brought to justice for their criminal activities. According to the investigation, within the framework of the enforcement proceedings under the department's jurisdiction, they received 600 US dollars to lift the ban on traveling abroad against a citizen born in 1993.
In addition, they demanded an additional 10 million soums in exchange for not putting up for auction land plots belonging to a farm specializing in growing cotton and grain, and were caught red-handed by SSS officers while receiving the money.
Currently, a criminal case has been opened against them under Article 168, Part 3, Clause "v" of the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
Officials emphasized that such cases are considered treason against the work being carried out to ensure transparency and accountability in public services. The results of the investigation are expected to be presented to the public later as additional information.
In Navoi and Surkhandarya, government employees were arrested for bribery.
