A meeting on strengthening honesty and openness in public administration was held in the Samarkand region. Acting regional governor Adiz Boboyev called on officials to fight corruption through personal example, according to the regional administration's press service.
The meeting was held on October 15. It was attended by khokims of districts and cities, representatives of law enforcement agencies, the education and healthcare systems.
In his speech, Adiz Boboyev called corruption "a vice that destroys trust in the state" and emphasized that the fight against this scourge should begin with the leaders themselves.
According to him, even with increased salaries and sufficient wages, some leaders resort to bribery. This instills in others in the system the idea that "if he took it, I can take it too." Thus, the vice begins at the top and spreads to the lower levels.
Boboyev called on the leaders to work honestly and set a personal example in observing the law. In his opinion, if a leader behaves correctly, his subordinates will behave the same way.
"If you work correctly, the people under your care will look up to you. Do you think the people see everything, don't know whose house was built and how, whose car was bought with what money? Everyone knows. Let every leader draw their own conclusions," he said at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the heads of khokimiyats and responsible agencies were instructed to strengthen preventive measures and actively conduct explanatory work on honesty and responsibility in labor collectives and mahallas. At the same time, it was instructed to take practical measures aimed at strengthening the culture of honest work.
According to the acting khokim of Samarkand, Adiz Boboyev, to eliminate corruption, first of all, the leaders themselves must change and be an example for the people. Only then will an atmosphere of trust and honesty prevail in the system.
