Employees of the State Security Service and Customs authorities prevented another major illegal currency operation in the Tashkent region, dxx.uz reports.
As a result of an operational event at the "Farhod" border customs post in the city of Bekabad, an attempt to illegally export a large amount of cash to the Republic of Tajikistan was uncovered.
During the investigation, it was revealed that a resident of the city of Bekabad, born in 1991, planned to illegally transfer 18,680,300 Russian rubles, 140,700 Tajik somoni, and 180 million soums across the border. He divided these funds into parts and distributed them among 34 citizens for transportation. Each of them pledged to deliver the money to Tajikistan in exchange for material benefit.
However, as a result of the control carried out by operatives, all participants were detained at the entrance to the "Farhod" post. The situation was documented with relevant documents.
During the operation, the accused's Tracker car was also inspected. Inside the vehicle, 13 million 538 thousand 305 rubles, 24 thousand 107 Tajik somoni, 885 euros, 300 US dollars, 300 Chinese yuan, 6840 Kyrgyz soms, and 10 million 207 thousand soums were found in special packages. All the money was seized as material evidence.
The total value of the confiscated funds amounted to more than 5 billion 200 million soums in national currency. This situation was assessed as a serious manifestation of a violation of national security and financial legislation.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the main organizer of this case, a resident of Bekabad, under Article 182, Part 2, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (illegal export of currency valuables). By court order, a preventive measure of "imprisonment" was applied to him.
During the investigation, the true owners of the illegal funds and their accomplices across the border are being identified. Relevant law enforcement agencies are continuing additional investigations on this matter.
