Despite the strengthening of the environmental control system in Uzbekistan, cases of waste disposal in unauthorized places are sharply increasing. According to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, about 10,000 violations have been identified throughout the country since the beginning of 2025.
It turned out that most of these cases were recorded using online IP cameras installed throughout the republic. Approximately 40% of offenses were committed by vehicles, and the rest by ordinary citizens.
The largest number of waste disposal cases occurred in Andijan (3001) and Namangan (2937) regions. It is also noted that Fergana, Samarkand, and Tashkent regions are among the "leaders."
To date, fines have been imposed on more than 2 thousand persons, and proceedings continue on more than 7.5 thousand cases. According to the Ministry, fines totaling more than 956 million soums have been collected.
Officials emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is not only related to punishment but also to raising the ecological awareness of the population. In their opinion, further expansion of the video surveillance control system will serve to prevent not only violations related to waste, but also other environmental problems.
Addressing the public, the Ministry called on every citizen to keep their surroundings clean, protect nature, and cultivate a culture of waste disposal in designated areas.
