
The traffic accident that occurred on 7 December in Kazakhstan’s Aktobe region quickly drew public attention. According to official information, the incident was recorded at 08:57 local time at the 1028th kilometer of the national highway passing through the Ayteke Bi district.
A Yutong passenger bus traveling on the “Perm–Tashkent” route lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch. As a result, it was confirmed that five of the 49 passengers on board died. Among the deceased were also two citizens of Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a special working group has been formed regarding the incident with the participation of the competent authorities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. It is engaged in returning the bodies of the deceased citizens to Uzbekistan, assisting their families in funeral arrangements, and coordinating all necessary organizational matters.
At present, employees of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations are in constant contact with their Kazakh counterparts and are continuing joint work to study the causes of the bus overturning, identify the exact factors, and assess subsequent measures.
The incident once again reminded of the need to seriously review safety measures on international routes of this type.
