Over 2,000 wanted criminals detained in Tashkent in one year

Tashkent law enforcement agencies have announced the results of last year’s search operations. According to the data, 2,146 out of 3,923 people on the official wanted list were detained. They attempted to evade investigation and trial but were identified by officers of the Main Department of Internal Affairs, the прокуратура and the courts. This was reported by podrobno.uz reports .

According to the analysis, those most often trying to evade justice were suspects in fraud cases (1,084 people) and theft suspects (293). Among those detained were also 143 individuals linked to illegal drug trafficking, 83 accused of property embezzlement, 48 suspected of hooliganism, 38 robbery suspects, and 20 people wanted on charges related to terrorism and extremism.

In addition, оперативники detained individuals accused of especially serious crimes. Specifically, 18 people who inflicted grievous bodily harm, 16 suspected of armed robbery, 14 in extortion cases, 7 accused of human trafficking, 6 wanted in murder-related cases, and 5 suspected of rape were identified.

Search operations were also carried out outside the country. Through cooperation with foreign partners, 86 fugitives were detained: 73 of them were hiding in CIS countries, and another 17 in other дальнее зарубежье countries. Over the year, 67 individuals were extradited to Uzbekistan to face prosecution.

The agencies also achieved results in some cases that had remained open for many years. In March 2025, a woman wanted for human trafficking since 2012 was detained, and in January, a man who had been hiding since 2019 on murder charges was arrested.

In addition, оперативники identified 741 individuals who were not included in the official wanted list but deliberately avoided appearing before investigative and judicial authorities.
