In Jizzakh, at the private kindergarten “Mehrli Yulduz,” a verdict was announced in the case of the tragedy – a child who drowned in the pool. According to the court decision, the kindergarten director Mavluda Yaqubova and the teacher Zilola Abilqosimova were sentenced to restriction of freedom. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
The incident occurred on October 24, 2025. During lunchtime, while taking children out for meals, the teacher lost sight of the 1.5-year-old girl, and shortly after she was found drowned in the pool. On this basis, a criminal case was initiated under Article 116 of the Criminal Code (failure to perform professional duties properly).
The Mirzacho‘l District Court sentenced the kindergarten director, 66-year-old Mavluda Yaqubova, to 5 years of restriction of freedom and a fine of 20.6 million soums. The kindergarten teacher, 38-year-old Zilola Abilqosimova, was sentenced to 3 years of restriction of freedom.
The court verdict has not yet entered into legal force; the parties have the right to appeal, and the prosecutor may file a protest.
