Border guards detained an Afghan courier

Uzbekistan’s border troops under the State Security Service intercepted a large shipment of narcotics that was allegedly being smuggled into the country from neighboring Afghanistan.
According to official information, the suspect is a man born in 1974 and living in Afghanistan’s Kunduz province. He was detained while illegally crossing the state border by boat over the Amu Darya river.
Officers found two sacks in his possession. Inside them were 10 packages containing hashish with a total net weight of 10 kilograms and 354 grams. The seized narcotics were documented in accordance with procedural rules.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect by the Investigation Department of the State Security Service’s Surkhandarya regional directorate. Investigators are now working to identify other people who may have been involved in organizing or assisting the smuggling attempt.
