New quarantine rules approved for animal diseases

New quarantine rules for animal diseases approved

In Uzbekistan, the system for combating infectious diseases that may spread among animals has been further strengthened. By government decision, the procedure for introducing and implementing restrictive measures — quarantine — has been officially approved.

Under the new procedure, areas where quarantine will be applied are determined based on the biological characteristics of disease agents, the speed of their spread and the level of risk. This will make it possible to respond quickly and precisely to the epidemiological situation.

In areas where quarantine has been introduced and in areas at risk, all veterinary and veterinary-sanitary measures will be carried out by the Committee for Veterinary and Livestock Development and its regional divisions. Control and preventive work is expected to be carried out systematically.

In addition, preventive quarantine measures will be implemented at specially established facilities at border posts. If such infrastructure is not available, separate isolation conditions will be created and monitoring introduced at the farms of animal owners.

Another important point is that the list of infectious diseases to which restrictive measures apply has also been approved. This will ensure a clear and systematic approach in combating dangerous diseases.

In short, the new rules are an important step aimed at reducing risks in the livestock sector and strengthening food security.
