22-year-old man dies after being struck by train in Tashkent

On April 25, a 22-year-old man died in Tashkent after being struck by a freight train between the Jaloyir and Sergeli railway stations.
It is reported that the incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 02:00 AM. According to preliminary data, the young man, born in 2004, was run over by a train in the railway area. Traces of blood remained at the scene, and the area was later cleaned.
An employee on duty at the railway crossing stated that at the time of the incident, a freight train arriving from the direction of Jaloyir sounded its signal, the crossing was closed, and he went out to meet the train.
According to the employee, the train did not pass through as usual but came to a stop. Subsequently, the machinist disembarked and reported that there was a person on the rails approximately 500 meters ahead; he noticed the individual too late and was unable to stop in time.
Witnesses reported that the deceased was intoxicated at the time of the incident and may have fallen asleep near the rails. Shortly after the event, internal affairs officers, road patrol services, and representatives of other responsible organizations arrived at the scene.
The Tashkent Transport Prosecutor's Office is currently conducting a pre-investigation probe into the situation. All details of the incident are currently being clarified.
