Cadastre head arrested for bribery, criminal case initiated

A criminal case has been initiated against the head of a Cadastre department serving in one of the districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The State Security Service provided official information regarding this matter.
According to the report, the official was apprehended while accepting a bribe of 2,000 US dollars from a citizen by illegally abusing his official powers. It is noted that he was caught with material evidence during an operational event.
The investigation revealed that the individual had promised to register property rights for a building constructed on a 132-square-meter plot of land that had been illegally seized by the citizen. However, according to a 2024 decision by the civil court, the building was ordered to be mandatorily demolished.
Despite this, he demanded a bribe from the citizen, claiming he would resolve the issue by legalizing the facility and processing the cadastre documents.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the official, and relevant investigative actions are underway. A legal assessment of the situation is expected, and appropriate measures are to be taken against those responsible.
In short, this incident once again demonstrates that the fight against the abuse of power by civil servants continues consistently.
