Electrician arrested in Andijan for inflating debt to 34 million soums

A fraud case involving electricity debt has been uncovered in the Andijan region. An operational event was conducted in cooperation with the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office and law enforcement agencies.

It is reported that F.X., a duty electrician at the "Sofi Qishloq" substation in the Qorgontepa district, falsely claimed that a citizen's electricity debt of 680,000 soums was actually 34 million soums.

He promised the citizen that if they paid 17 million soums, he would clear this "debt." The electrician was caught red-handed while receiving the money.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under Article 168 of the Criminal Code, which covers fraud. Investigative actions are currently underway.
