Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan intend to jointly host the 2031 Asian Cup. This was reported by the Football Association of Uzbekistan (FAU).
It is noted that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has begun considering candidates to host the Asian Cup, the most prestigious football tournament on the Asian continent, in 2031. The football associations of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have put forward their joint candidacy, expressing confidence in jointly hosting the Asian Cup at a high level.
“Today, along with neighboring countries, Uzbekistan is fully prepared to host the prestigious competition. In cities such as Tashkent, Namangan, Fergana, Karshi, stadiums have been brought up to international standards. In addition, in recent years, hosting the Asian U-20, U-23 tournaments, and the Futsal World Cup has been a great experience. As always, Central Asia is ready to attract the attention of all of Asia with its hospitality, professional approach, dedication to football and, of course, the love of football fans,” the report says.
As of February 24, the UAE, Indonesia and Kuwait have also submitted separate applications to host the 2031 Asian Cup.
The 2031 Asian Cup will be held for the 20th time, with 24 national teams participating in the tournament. The tournament, which has been held by the AFC since 1956, is organized once every four years. In 2023, the competition was held in Qatar. In 2027, the tournament will be hosted by Saudi Arabia.
