After the Super League 5th round match between Neftchi and Pakhtakor (0:4), Fergana team's head coach Vitaliy Levchenko attended the press conference.
"It's hard to say anything. Congratulations to Pakhtakor on their victory, they deserved it. The opponent didn’t defeat us; we lost the match ourselves, as apart from the first goal, the other three goals resulted from our own mistakes—ball losses and inaccurate passes. The opponent played disciplined football and waited for our errors. Unfortunately, we lost possession frequently, and the opponent effectively took advantage and scored goals. We weren’t ready for Pakhtakor’s disciplined approach," said Vitaliy Levchenko about today's match.
- In the first half, Neftchi fell into a state of "shock." Could you have changed the situation by substituting players?
- I think it would have been wrong to make such decisions in the first half. Today we wanted to play football but made mistakes in midfield, which the opponent capitalized on. We gave them open spaces. Making substitutions during the first half would’ve been psychologically incorrect. At halftime, we pointed out our mistakes and introduced new players. I instructed the team to close down the open spaces. After halftime, Pakhtakor controlled the game according to the scoreline, and the match logically concluded. We’ll analyze our mistakes and draw conclusions. Sometimes it's beneficial to lose 0:4 or 0:5 once to understand the situation and make the right conclusions. I hope we will learn from our mistakes.
- Could the goalkeeper have saved the opponent’s shots?
- We have a goalkeeping coach. I don’t want to blame anyone. The head coach is responsible for everything. Now, we need to analyze everything. It would be incorrect to criticize or blame anyone for mistakes. You cannot act like that under emotions. I apologize to our fans; they supported the team very well.
