With only three rounds left until the end of the 2024/25 Iranian league season, the championship race remains fiercely competitive. After the 27th round, reigning champions Persepolis are third with 51 points, Sepahan holds second place with 56 points, and Tractor leads the league, having played one match fewer.
During one of the key matches of the recent round between Persepolis and Sepahan, Uzbek midfielder Oston Urunov, playing for the hosts, was substituted off in the 32nd minute due to an injury. According to Iranian media, Urunov will need approximately 2-3 weeks to recover from this injury.
The Varzesh3 publication critically analyzed Urunov's injury situation and his overall condition:
"In the 25th minute of the game against Sepahan, Oston once again felt discomfort and had to be substituted, unable to continue. Farshad Ahmadzadeh replaced him. Persepolis's medical team reported that Urunov's recovery would require at least 2-3 weeks.
It was revealed that Urunov suffered a slight strain of his right thigh muscle, making him unable to finish the match. However, the issue is not only medical but also related to Urunov's unprofessional lifestyle.
According to the Iranian publication, the frequent injuries sustained by Urunov are primarily due to his unprofessional way of living. He neglects proper nutrition, sleep routines, and individual training. This increases his physical issues and hinders his on-field performance.
The publication also cited the example of France national team star Ousmane Dembele. Dembele often suffered injuries at Barcelona, but after moving to PSG, he significantly changed his lifestyle and training routines professionally, resulting in two seasons of high-level performance.
It is noted that if Oston follows the advice of Persepolis's medical staff and acts professionally, his injury will heal quicker, and similar problems could be prevented in the future. Additionally, Persepolis's head coach Ismail Kartal is reportedly unhappy with Urunov's current condition." Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
