The coach of “Bukhara” shared thoughts on the loss, the topic of resignation, and youth development

The coach of “Bukhara” shared thoughts on the loss, the topic of resignation, and youth development
After the “Bukhara” – “Mash’al” (1:2) match held within the framework of Super League round 8, the head coach of the home team Ulugbek Bakaev took part in the press conference and shared his thoughts about yesterday’s match.

“There were opportunities, we just couldn’t use them”

“I have no complaints against the guys. Their preparation for the match and efforts were not bad. In the first half, we created 2–3 very dangerous chances. In some moments, the opponent’s goalkeeper saved his team, and in other episodes, our player couldn’t receive the ball properly.

After the break, we conceded a goal, but quickly equalized. With so many chances, we should have taken advantage of at least one. ‘Mash’al’ made good use of their chances. I congratulate them on the victory,” said Ulugbek Bakaev.

Avoided giving a direct answer to the resignation question

In response to a journalist's question regarding a possible resignation, Bakaev answered:

“This question is not related to the game. Please, let’s stay within the topic of today’s match. The decision of the management is a personal matter. The relationship between me and the club leadership continues on an open and constructive basis.”

“Problems in defense are coming from psychological factors”

When asked about the many goals conceded in recent matches, despite the defense line being mostly formed by foreign players, Bakaev said:

“True, we are conceding a lot of goals in recent games. Especially towards the end of matches. I link this more with mental preparation.

When an athlete constantly loses, they may lose confidence in themselves. In such situations, even a draw or a narrow win can lift the team’s morale.”

Trust in youth is there, but performance on the field is a must

Bakaev emphasized that young players like Javohir Roziyev and Ravshan Khayrullaev are being given chances:

“In modern football, age is not the main factor. If a player fits the level of the Super League, whether he is 15 or 30 years old — it doesn’t matter.

We give equal chances to everyone. But using that chance effectively and proving oneself on the field — that’s up to the player. If the quality is lacking, no matter how many chances are given, he won’t secure a spot in the main squad.”

About the penalty: “I didn’t see it myself, but the player admitted it”

The coach also shared his opinion on the awarded penalty, saying that he didn’t see the episode personally but trusted his player’s word:

“I didn’t see that moment. I asked the player — if the ball touched him, then it could be a penalty. Actually, a defender shouldn’t slide in the penalty area.

But even after that, we equalized and even had a chance to take the lead. If the referee made a decision, then he had his reasons. I respect that.”

In conclusion…

Although “Bukhara” is having a hard time with results in recent matches, based on the team’s performance, the opportunities given to youth, and the coach’s words, hope within the club remains strong.

What do you think — can Bakaev lead “Bukhara” out of this psychological and performance crisis?
