Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has described his team's participation in the Club World Cup in the United States as a great honor. In an interview with Marca, the famous Spanish specialist spoke about his attitude, goals and preparation for the tournament.
"It is a very important and great honor for us. Participating in the Club World Cup is a confirmation of the high level of play we showed in the Champions League and the Premier League last season. It is a new format of the competition, and I am looking forward to it with great enthusiasm. We will fight for victory, although 31 other very strong clubs are also striving for it," said Guardiola.
According to him, Manchester City will enter the competition not only to demonstrate their potential, but also to add another international trophy to the club's history. "We will decide with what squad we will go to the United States only after the end of this season. The physical condition of the players, injuries and the level of training will determine our decision," the coach emphasized.
It is worth noting that the Club World Cup will be held in the United States from June 15 to July 13. The tournament will feature 32 of the world's most prestigious clubs. Manchester City have qualified for the tournament as the Champions League winners.
City are currently in third place in the Premier League with 65 points after 37 matches. If City win the final match, they will be guaranteed a place in the Champions League next season.
Guardiola concluded his remarks by saying: "This is not just a competition - it is a test. We will compete with the best teams in the world and show them what kind of club we are. In this competition, it is not just a name that wins, but character and consistency." Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
