In connection with this historic result, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke by phone with the head coach of the national team, Timur Kapadze, and sincerely congratulated all the players and coaches, describing their victory as a wonderful gift for our people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
At the same time, FIFA President Gianni Infantino also sent a special congratulatory message on the historic success of Uzbek football.
"Since joining the FIFA family in 1994, the Uzbekistan national team has been performing well and achieving high results at the Olympic Games and a number of prestigious international youth competitions. This time, you have also had an excellent qualifying round and have earned the right to participate in the World Cup next summer.
