Nico Williams rejected “Arsenal”, agreed with “Barça”!

There were two main reasons for this: first — the very high salary demanded by Williams, and second — the player’s personal desire to play only for “Barcelona”.

Nico Williams’ personal goal is clear: if he leaves “Athletic”, he only wants to join the Catalan club. His negotiations with “Barça” were successful, and the sides have already agreed on a personal contract. According to the new agreement, the 21-year-old forward will receive a salary of 350,000 euros per week at “Camp Nou”.

This would have been a very heavy financial burden for “Arsenal”. Moreover, the London club was not ready to pay the 58 million euro release clause stated in the player’s contract. All these factors together forced the “Gunners” to change their plan.

At the same time, the “Barcelona” management sees Williams as the future of the team. His technique, ability to sense goal opportunities, and high-speed play are expected to further enrich the attacking potential of the “blaugranas”.

Let us remind you, this season Nico Williams played 34 matches in the Spanish championship for “Athletic”, scoring 9 goals and providing 10 assists. He also attracted the attention of fans and specialists with his excellent performances for the Spanish national team at the EURO–2024 tournament.
