From June 30 to July 7, the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, is hosting the prestigious World Boxing Cup, bringing together top boxing athletes from around the world. The competition features both young talents and experienced professionals.
The women’s national boxing team of Uzbekistan came into the tournament with thorough preparation. However, in every bout, victory and defeat walk hand in hand.
In the 57 kg weight category, Khumorabon Mamajonova stepped into the ring against Wu Shi-Yi from Taiwan. The fight was closely contested and intense. However, after the judges’ decision, the win went to Wu Shi-Yi. Mamajonova showed excellent preparation, speed, and technical skills in every round, but the judges ruled otherwise.
Meanwhile, in the 75 kg category, Aziza Zakirova lived up to her reputation. The Polish boxer Olivia Toborek could not mount a challenge. Aziza controlled the match from start to finish, and the judges unanimously awarded her the victory — 5:0. Notably, during the fight, Zakirova put her opponent under pressure multiple times and even knocked Toborek down in one moment.
These results once again confirm the high potential of Uzbekistan's women’s boxing team on the international stage. Especially the fights of strong and experienced boxers like Aziza Zakirova delight sports fans.
According to the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation, the tournament continues, and our other athletes will also try their luck in different weight divisions. Strong and successful performances are expected from them as well.
