Trump “put to sleep” the Club World Cup trophy

President of the United States Donald Trump, in an interview after the final match of the Club World Cup, announced that the symbolic trophy of the tournament will no longer be moved from the White House. England’s “Chelsea” club won this expanded-format tournament, but the spotlight was on politicians rather than the footballers.

In his interview with the Dazn sports channel, Trump stated the following:

“I asked them: ‘When are you taking the trophy?’ They said: ‘We’re never taking it. We’re leaving it with you forever. We’re making a new one.’ Indeed, they made a new trophy. It was very exciting. The trophy is now in the White House.”
