Today a friendly match between the veterans of Uzbekistan and Russia was held. Taking place in a festive mood and in the spirit of uncompromising struggle, the encounter was rich in interesting episodes and a 2:2 draw result was recorded. I went onto the field thinking I would score a goal against Dasaev. This is also pleasant in its own way, Dasaev was the best footballer of his time. But the most important thing is that the game went well,” says Timur Kapadze.

His intention to find a way to Dasaev’s goal added additional intrigue to the encounter — to score a goal against the figure recognized as the best goalkeeper of 1988 is, of course, a special memory for every footballer.

The veterans’ match is not only nostalgia, but also a kind of lesson for the new generation: on the field rivalry, outside the field unity. The fans received a memorable impression from the evening filled with goals, beautiful combinations, and sincere handshakes.
