After the Super League Round 19 match “Nasaf” – “Shurtan” (2:0), the visiting team’s head coach Eldor Moyliyev attended the press conference and shared his thoughts about the game and the current state of his team.
— Our main tactic today was to rely on counterattacks, — said Moyliyev. — In the first half, this plan worked to some extent. We defended well and created some chances. We even had the opportunity to score from a corner, but failed to capitalize. In the second half, however, we lost focus a little. Especially our holding midfielders should have helped in the episode of the first goal, but concentration was lacking. The second goal came as a result of our own mistake. Breaking through Nasaf’s defense was very difficult for us. Therefore, I congratulate the opponent on a deserved victory.
The coach also explained the limited use of experienced players:
— Jasur Hakimov is still training individually. Nuriddin Hasanov has only just recovered from injury and is slowly getting back into the squad. We will try to use them in the upcoming matches.
Answering the question about changes after Anvar Berdiev’s departure, he said:
— We mainly brought in central midfielders and forwards. We wanted to sign one or two foreign players, but it didn’t work out. We couldn’t bring in the exact players we had in mind. Nevertheless, we are trying to do something with the youngsters.
Speaking about the difficulties in the second round of the season, Moyliyev added:
— We started the second half of the season with many new players, and it’s not easy for them to adapt quickly. We play well at home, but concede too many goals from counterattacks. In crucial “six-point” games against Khorezm and Kokand-1912, we also missed our chances.
He also commented on the team conceding too many goals:
— This is not only the fault of the goalkeeper or defenders. In modern football, the entire team must defend together. If the strikers and midfielders do not track back to help, it is almost impossible to keep a clean sheet. It’s a collective mistake.
Finally, when asked about Shurtan’s chances of staying in the Super League, Moyliyev said:
— We haven’t lost our chances yet. It will be difficult not only for us, but also for other teams. But we will fight until the very end, — he said firmly.
In conclusion, although Shurtan lost in Karshi, Moyliyev’s words show that the team has not lost its spirit and is determined to fight until the final round. His main motto is clear: learn from defeats and give everything on the pitch.
