The famous Catalan club “Barcelona” has reached an agreement with one of its young and talented goalkeepers — Iñaki Peña, according to Mundo Deportivo. Reports say that the 26-year-old keeper’s contract has been extended for another year, until mid-2027. The agreement also includes the possibility of a loan move to another club.
Several teams have shown serious interest in Peña. Among them are Italy’s “Como,” Spain’s “Celta” and “Girona,” as well as Turkey’s “Galatasaray.” However, it is emphasized that each of these clubs would first need to free up a spot in their squad for the Barcelona goalkeeper.
At present, Iñaki Peña is considered Barcelona’s fourth-choice goalkeeper. Nevertheless, his abilities and reliability remain important for the club. The situation is as follows: Wojciech Szczęsny has not yet been officially registered, first-choice keeper Marc-André ter Stegen recently underwent back surgery and has just started his recovery.
Additionally, the main goalkeeper for the team right now is Joan Garcia, who was signed this summer from Espanyol. This intensifies the competition within the squad and makes Peña’s future even more intriguing.
Thus, the extension of Iñaki Peña’s contract and his potential loan move are being closely followed by the fans. Where he will go next and at which club he will showcase his skills remain unanswered questions.
