At the beginning of August, Khalid Jamil took charge of the national team and quickly got to work. He has presented India’s squad list for the prestigious CAFA tournament, which will kick off on August 29.
Goalkeepers
Gurpreet Singh («Bengaluru»), Amrinder Singh («Odisha») and Ritik Tiwari («Goa») have been chosen as the team’s main goalkeepers.
Defenders
The defensive line includes Rahul Bheke («Bengaluru»), Roshan Singh («Bengaluru»), Anwar Ali («East Bengal»), Sandesh Jhingan («Goa»), Chinglensana Singh («Bengaluru»), Ralte («Bengaluru») and Muhammad Uwais («Punjab»).
Midfielders
In midfield, the following players are named: Nikhil Prabhu («Punjab»), Suresh Singh («Bengaluru»), Danish Farooq («Kerala Blasters»), Jeakson Singh («East Bengal»), Boris Singh («Goa»), Ashique Kuruniyan («Mohun Bagan»), Udanta Singh («Goa») and Mahesh Singh («East Bengal»).
Forwards
The attack will be led by Irfan Yadwad («Chennaiyin»), Manvir Singh («Mohun Bagan»), Jithin Madathil Subran («NorthEast United»), Lallianzuala Chhangte («Mumbai City») and Vikram Pratap Singh («Mumbai City»).
Group and opponents
It should be noted that India will participate in the tournament in place of Malaysia. They are placed in Group «B» and will face Tajikistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. These matches will be hosted by Tajikistan.
