“Manchester City” surprise transfer: Akanji’s future being decided

With only a few days left until the summer transfer window closes, serious changes continue to unfold in Manchester City’s squad. Several players have attracted interest from other clubs, and negotiations with potential buyers are ongoing.

According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, the “Citizens” have decided to part ways with their experienced central defender Manuel Akanji. The source states that the club has already accepted Galatasaray’s offer worth £15 million.

At the moment, both clubs are waiting for the Swiss defender’s personal decision. However, Akanji is in no rush to accept the Turkish club’s offer, as he also has another serious option — Germany.

Reports suggest that Bayer Leverkusen’s management intends to replace Piero Hincapié, who is on the verge of joining Arsenal, with Akanji. This could provide the defender with another opportunity to showcase himself in a major European league.

Akanji’s football journey began in Switzerland. He first played for Winterthur, then represented Basel. In 2018, Borussia Dortmund signed him for €21.5 million, and four years later Manchester City acquired him for nearly the same price.

Since joining City, the 30-year-old defender has featured in 136 official matches, contributing not only defensively but also scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Thus, the question remains open: will Akanji continue his career in Turkey, or will he move to Germany? One thing is certain: if he leaves City, the club will lose a crucial figure in its defensive line.
